Benefits of Wheatgrass

At first glance, you might not think too much of wheatgrass and there are good reasons for this. Wheatgrass basically looks just like the regular grass that you would find in your front or backyard, but that doesn't mean that wheatgrass doesn't have impressive health properties. Many people swear by the health promoting effects of wheatgrass and, to be sure, wheatgrass is a supplement that has certain unique benefits.

The Two Forms of Wheatgrass
Wheatgrass is traditionally consumed in two different forms. The first is juiced form where the wheatgrass is taken through a special juicing machine. Buying a juicing machine is one option and another option is to buy frozen wheatgrass juice. The second way that wheatgrass is consumed is in its dehydrated form. In this form, wheatgrass makes its way in a variety of drinks. It is important to note that in order to receive the health benefits of wheatgrass, it should not be cooked or heated. Heating food destroys the valuable enzymes that it contains.

Wheatgrass-Many Nutritional and Health Benefits
Wheatgrass has long been loved for its ability to detoxify the body. Yet, the detoxifying properties of wheatgrass are only one of the ways that wheatgrass can boost overall health. To an extent all green vegetables have the ability to contribute to detoxifying the body, but many people feel that wheatgrass stands out in this particular regard.

Wheatgrass is high in chlorophyll and a range of vitamins and minerals as well. The composition of wheatgrass includes vitamins such as A, B-12 and E as well as minerals such as calcium and iron.

How much wheatgrass should you consume? A small serving of wheatgrass every day is believed by many to aid with detoxification. It should be noted, however, that while wheatgrass is a great food and makes for a high quality supplement, it is not a replacement for an otherwise unhealthy diet or all green foods. Wheatgrass does not have the same nutritional spread of other green foods, for example, kale, broccoli and spinach. Adding a range of green foods to your diet will aid with not just detoxification but with improved health as well.

Wheatgrass has a good deal to offer. It is high in vitamins and minerals and is believed by many to have impressive detoxification properties. When used in conjunction with a high-quality diet and other nutritious foods, wheatgrass can really shine regardless of whether it is in fresh or supplement form.
