You still have two hours until lunch time, but your stomach is growling like a maniac. Snacking on junk food is one of the main reasons why people gain unwanted weight and fat on their waistline. Check out these 4 healthy snacks to curb hunger.

green drink - pistachios

1. Nuts and Seeds

Pistachios, pumpkin seeds, cashews, and sunflower seeds all make excellent healthy snacks to hold you over until lunch or dinner. Only eat a handful or so of your favorite nuts and seeds as a snack - portion control is important in any diet regimen. Nuts and seeds are a great source of vitamins and minerals if consumed raw. You can also make your own mix of nuts and seeds if you buy them in bulk from your local grocery store. As a tip, nuts and seeds can easily be added to your morning green drink too, and this addition to your morning smoothie will help keep you full until lunch. Just make sure the nuts and seeds are completely ground up before drinking your green drink!

2. Avocado

Avocados are absolutely amazing. They are full of the "good fat" also known as monounsaturated fat and contain zero cholesterol. They are also rich in potassium, folic acid, and vitamin K, and are a good source of vitamin B6, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Season your avocado with a little salt, pepper, and hot sauce and you have one delicious and filling snack. If you have a hard time eating avocados on their own, you could always spread it on a piece of toast instead.

3. Raw veggies with hummus

Simple, delicious, and nutritious, raw veggies and hummus are a great healthy snack! They also work well to take to the office since they can stay fresh all day.
